Soooooo
I disappeared for a bit there didn't I? the truth is I just can't get into blogging. I've tried time and time again but I just can't do it. There's nothing remotely interesting about my life I can write about and current affairs don't particularly interest me. I've got a tumblr account but I mostly just reblog on there and occassionally throw in the odd personal thing, it's a lot less pressure than sitting down with a blank screen in front of you and trying to think of something genuinely interesting/original/amusing to say. Hat's off to those of you who can do it but I can't.
So this will probably be my last post here :-(
And a personal apology to my good friend Mark (if indeed he is still my friend!) I'm really sorry I've been so bad and not dropped by here in such a long time. I will of course keep this account open so I can still comment on your posts, I always enjoy reading what you have to say :-)

...and breathe
This has been the busiest couple of weeks I've had... probably for years!
Last Thursday I went to see The Carl Palmer Band in Tavistock which was absolutely exhilirating, I got a picture with him too :-)
Then on Saturday night we went to see Nik Kershaw at the Daphne Du Maurier festival, yesterday we saw
Tony Hawks and today we met Terry Wogan!
It's been a bit of a social whirl haha

Tony ****ing Blackburn
I have never liked this man. and now his latest comment in the Radio Times has really done it.
"I actually think today's artists are better than those of yesteryear. The Beatles and The Stones just stood there with guitars and sang. These days people like Rihanna can sing, dance and do everything."
Except play an instrument...ahem.
How did this prick ever get a job as a DJ? he clearly knows nothing about music. Athough he's certainly got a face for radio.
Personally I think The Goodies had the right idea when they had him shot haha

*girlish giggles*
I'm laughing now because I'm thinking of making a post of the men I find attractive (it's all your fault Mark!) but seeing as the last post I made on here was a pic spam of the gorgeous Peter Gabriel I think I'll leave it for now or this whole blog will be a mass of fangirly lust.
So I'll leave it at just 2 for now ;-P
Emerson, Lake & Palmer (yes, all of them but especially Carl - woof!)
and perhaps surprisingly my biggest crush of the past year...
The delightful Graeme Garden *sigh* and I'm not the only one so put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Happy Birthday Peter Gabriel
I'd like to put in words how much this man and his music means to me but seeing as that's virtually impossible to do...
It's pic spam time!
This is a picture of Peter at WOMAD 2009 when I was lucky enough to be there :-)
And finally (because I just can't resist)
Haha! my friend did this for me on my last Birthday and it's just too brilliant not to post again.
Happy 62nd (I can't believe it, you still look amazing) Birthday Peter <3

Twice a Fortnight
By rights this show should be legendary featuring as it did not only the major comic talents of the decade but also performances from some of the greatest bands of all time (The Who and Cream to name but two). And yet as it is, it lasted for just one series before disappearing without a trace and so far there is very little surviving footage available.
Sadly this seems to be the case with so many programmes from the 60s and 70s. Early editions of 'Top of the Pops' are another example, hence why the current repeats started at 1976 instead of the "golden era" of the late 60s-early 70s. Makes me wonder how much we may never see again.

I suppose I should explain my absence
Basically I've not been feeling all that good, after managing to avoid two bouts of family cold over Christmas I've now gone and picked up my usual start of the year lurgy. Hopefully it won't evolve into the horrible throat infections I had a couple of years back but needless to say I feel pretty grotty (sympathy please).
And so I shall leave you with some of my favourites from the I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue "Cold and Flu Songbook"
My Love Is Like a Red Red Nose
Cattarh Man
I Will Survive
Greensleeves
Eternal Phlegm
The hills are alive with the sound of mucus
Sneeze Up Mother Brown
While my Cattarh Gently Weeps
No matter how bad I feel, the funniest radio comedy there ever was always makes it better :-D

My philosophy
In fact I haven't listened to nearly enough recently, which is probably why I'm tense and cranky haha

Just had to share
I found this picture of The Who on my friend's Tumblr site and I'd never seen it before, that in itself is reason enough for posting :-)
Still LOVE you lot <3

I am in love!
With this website!
http://www.wildbikini.co.uk/
If you love anything 60s or 70s then this place is a dream come true and their ebay store is even bigger and better. I've previously bought a selection of badges and today I just couldn't resist getting myself the Syd Barrett T Shirt
I've got my eye on The Avengers one next (and various badges, stickers, postcards...) in the meantime I'll just have to sit on my hands until pay day!

Saturday again...
I warned you I'd be a rubbish blogger, a whole week gone by already and only one post in that time. As the old school reports used to say - Must try harder.
So anyway, it's been a pretty typical Saturday for me. Listened to Pick of the Pops on the radio, went down the town this afternoon and frivolously bought myself 3 almost identical hats in different colours (not that I do that every Saturday...) and now it's evening and it's wine and movie time.
Tonight, continuing my appreciation for the work of Ken Russell I'm going to watch 'Lisztomania' (come on, I can't be the only person who LOVES the inspired insanity of this film?)
Ringo Starr as a Bishop, Rick Wakeman as Thor pissing in the fireplace, Paul Nicholas as an evil Wagner and of course a half naked Roger Daltrey - what's not to like?

My unusual cure for sleeplessness
I've recently discovered that the best thing you can watch before going to bed is...
Yes, really. It's The Clangers!
I don't know what it is about this programme that induces calm in me but I can't help but feel an enormous sense of wellbeing after watching it. and that's why it's now part of my winding down at the end of the day routine.
I'm not sure why I felt the need to share this fact...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P.S/ I've given in and now have a Twitter account, I'm sure I'll be a very boring tweeter but to be honest that's not why I've signed up. it's just an excuse to "follow" some of my favourite people.

Saturday night's alright for writing
While most people my age are probably on the Jagerbombs by this time on a Saturday I prefer to sit here with a glass of red and update this ol' thing.
Well, I did get around to doing some painting at long last, and while it's safe to say I don't think I'll be winning the Turner prize anytime soon it gave me a great sense of satisfaction just to be holding a brush again.
I present er...Untitled
Today has been spent indulging my favourite hobby of music buying. I went to my favourite little record stall in Truro (Music Nostalgia - I'll give them a plug just in case anyone who may read this is in the area) and got my hands on a feast of Proggy goodness. Best of's from Camel and Family, a Steve Hackett concert DVD and Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 'Works' album on vinyl.
And now I must dash because I've got less than an hour before the documentary on Ken Russell is on the tele and I've got a curry to cook yet.
TTFN!

January afternoons
About the only good thing about this time of year is the uncontrollable urge I get to paint. afternoons like this in January just seem to inspire something in me. So watch this space.
Oh and thank you to the Radio Times for the free David Hockney postcards, very nice.
